Highlights: Shay Whitcomb and Quincy Hamilton combined for three home runs and six RBI and Colton Gordon pitched six quality innings to lead the Hooks to a bounce back win against the Sod Poodles at Whataburger Field. Amarillo hitters only managed one hit against Gordon, who struck out nine batters and improved to 2-2 on the season. Whitcomb homered twice to give him a club-best eight on the season and Hamilton connected on his first in the sixth inning. Hamilton also drove in two runs on double in the seventh inning to pad the lead for Corpus Christi.

Highlights: The Hooks could not find an answer offensively against the Sod Poodles in Game 2 of their six-game set. Amarillo used four different pitchers, who limited Corpus Christi to five hits in a shut out victory at Whataburger Field. Kenedy Corona led Corpus Christi with two hits and Hooks starter Rhett Kouba pitched six quality innings with seven strikeouts. Tristin English had two hits with a home run and a double to lead the Sod Poodles.
TUESDAY, MAY 2

Astros outfielder Chas McCormick went 1 for 2 with a walk and scored a run in his rehab start with the Hooks on Tuesday against the Amarillo Sod Poodles at Whataburger Field.
McCormick also made a diving catch in centerfield for the third out of the seventh inning of a game that resulted in a 3-1 Hooks win.
McCormick, who left Houston in April with lower back tightness, was playing his first game in Corpus Christi since the 2019 minor league season.

Highlights: Shay Whitcomb provided all three of the Hooks' runs with a bases-clearing double in the sixth inning of Tuesday's series opener against the Sod Poodles. The inning started with Quincy Hamilton and Chas McCormick drawing back-to-back walks and Joey Liperfido hitting a single to load the bases. Corpus Christi starter Spencer Arrighetti kept the Hooks in the game after delivering five scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Julio Robaina pitched the final four frames, allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout.
