Arlington Renegades play the Houston Roughnecks in the XFL regular-season finale
The XFL is in the last week of its regular season and the Arlington Rengades (4-5) are looking to punch a ticket to the playoffs on Sunday with a victory against the Houston Roughnecks (6-3).
The Roughnecks beat the Renegades 23-14 in the week two matchup. The Renegades advance to the playoffs with a win or a San Antonio Loss against the Defenders.
Who has the edge in the regular season finale?
New look QB
Luis Perez threw for over 300 yards last week against the D.C. Defenders last week and the Renegades will need a similar performance if they want to upset the Roughnecks.
The Renegades will have to work to keep Perez upright against the Roughnecks who have the best pass rush in the XFL and lead the league in sacks with 33. If the Renegades’ pass game flounders it could be a long day on offense.
Force Turnovers
The Renegades’ secondary leads the XFL in interceptions with 12 and they could be due for a big game against a Roughnecks offense that has thrown the second most interceptions in the XFL.
The Renegades’ secondary will need to set up the offense in advantageous positions to secure to win.
Talented Roughneck secondary
The Roughnecks have a ball-hawking secondary with 11 interceptions on the season good for second place in the XFL and it makes them one of two teams with at least 10 interceptions on the season.
Ajene Harris leads the league with five interceptions and Sean Davis ranks fourth with three interceptions. No defensive back pair in the XFL has more combined interceptions.
The Arlington Renegades play the Houston Roughnecks at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Choctaw Stadium (ESPN/ESPN+).
