Aristides Aquino, who played the parts of the past four seasons for the Cincinnati Reds after making his Major League Baseball debut in 2018, thanked the team and Cincinnati fans for their support in an Instagram post Saturday night.

Aquino, who signed with Chunichi Dragons of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, was designated for assignment in November.

In 2019, he set an MLB record for most home runs (13) through his first 100 career plate appearances. Last season, he threw out 12 runners in 80 games, including six at home plate.

From Aquino via Instagram:

"(Aquino is) a really good person, a likeable guy in the clubhouse," Reds general manager Nick Krall said when Aquino was designated for assignment, per The Enquirer's Bobby Nightengale. "We wish him the best. I think he’s shown some streakiness where's been really good and he's played some pretty good defense. It's just with where we are with the roster and at-bats we need to give other guys, he wasn’t a great fit right now."
