Apartment fire in Genoa Township leaves six families without homes, at least for now
GENOA TWP. — Residents of a two-story apartment complex had a difficult morning Thursday as a fire broke out on a second floor balcony, leaving several residents displaced.
Firefighters from the Brighton Area Fire Department were dispatched at 5:09 a.m. Thursday, May 25, to Audrey Rae Lane and had the blaze under control within 20 minutes using six fire trucks. The department was assisted by the Howell Area Fire Department with additional help from Hamburg, Green Oak and Hartland.
All residents were evacuated and there were no injuries to residents or firefighters.

Out of 12 units, all of which were occupied, two sustained fire damage and four had damage from smoke and water. The families who lived in those six units have been displaced and will be unable to return until the damage has been repaired. The roof of the building is also damaged
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Brighton Deputy Fire Chief Mike Evans.
