Alex Rodriguez, a Fox baseball analyst and former Major League Baseball star, said during the network's All-Star Game pregame broadcast that Cincinnati Reds rookie phenom Elly De La Cruz should be at the Midsummer Classic at Seattle's T-Mobile Park.

When Reds closer Alexis Diaz entered the game, analyst John Smoltz said, "We've got some great stories in the game. I don't know if there's a bigger one than the Cincinnati Reds. And he's a big part of that. … It's been an incredible run."

"He's definitely electified the team," Smoltz said of De La Cruz later in the broadcast. "He's put some energy in there that is just hard to bottle up with his legs, his bat. I mean he stole three bases on two pitches."

Earlier this week, national host Rich Eisen and former Reds fan favorite Todd Frazier were among those tweeting that De La Cruz deserved to be an All-Star.

Bally Sports Ohio play-by-play broadcaster John Sadak talked to Eisen on Tuesday afternoon about De La Cruz.

De La Cruz, who stole second, third and home during one plate appearance against the Brewers in Milwaukee, has made a decided difference in the Reds' lineup, per The Enquirer's Gordon Wittenmyer, since joining it June 6.
