Alabama football lands Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner from transfer portal
The Alabama football quarterback battle just added another contender.
Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner is transferring to the Crimson Tide, he announced Thursday. He entered the portal on Tuesday after spending the spring with the Fighting Irish.
"Sometimes life brings opportunities that are beyond anything you can imagine and that is what has happened today," Buchner wrote in a Twitter post. "I have committed to play football for the University of Alabama and head coach Nick Saban. I know this is the best decision for my future, and I can't wait to get to Tuscaloosa and begin the next step of my football journey."

The decision reunites him with Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, who served as Notre Dame's offensive coordinator the past three seasons and its quarterbacks coach for six years.
Buchner joins Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson in the Crimson Tide quarterback battle as Nick Saban seeks a signal caller to replace Bryce Young. Including freshmen Eli Holstein and Dylan Lonergan, Alabama now has five quarterbacks on scholarship. It's likely at least one transfers.
Buchner, now 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, also committed to play for Rees out of high school in San Diego, California.
