Al Roker thanks wife Deborah Roberts for helping him through past medical ‘crisis’ in anniversary post
Al Roker is giving thanks for his "amazing" wife, Deborah Roberts, in a sweet message to mark their 29th wedding anniversary.
The TODAY weatherman mixed his trademark humor with a message of gratitude for his wife being by his side during a series of serious medical issues in 2022 in a tribute to Deborah on Instagram.
"Well, 29 years by pretty fast," Al wrote on Instagram on Sept. 16. "Not sure @debrobertsabc would agree. #happyanniversary to an amazing wife, friend, mom, journalist and incredible #lifepartner who made sure I survived my crisis a year and a half ago. Though I’m sure I give her pause to reconsider that from time to time. Thanks for not pulling the plug. I love you."
Al shared a series of photos of the couple from over the years, including a joyous one from their wedding day, and a shot of them with former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama. He also included a smiling photo with daughter Leila, son Nick, and Courtney, Al's daughter from a previous marriage.
Friends, family and TODAY fans shared their well wishes for Al and Deborah in his Instagram comments.
"You guys are amazing!! Happy anniversary!!" TODAY's Dylan Dreyer wrote.
"So much love to you both!! Happy anniversary," wrote chef Matt Abdoo, a frequent TODAY guest.
"You guys are so adorable!!!" one fan wrote. "I love how sweet and caring you both are to each other. Bless you both."
Deborah also marked the day with a loving message for Al on Instagram. She included a throwback shot from their 1995 wedding and photos of them from over the years.
"How it began…how it is now," she wrote. "Still racing toward love and life with you @alroker and so delighted for every adventure. You bring the #joy. Here’s to 29 more years. #happyanniversary"
Al and Deborah's anniversary comes just over a month after the family celebrated Al's 70th birthday in style. They threw him a surprise party that included an appearance by the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire.
"Deborah was just spectacular, I cannot thank her enough," Al said on the 3rd hour of TODAY on Aug. 12 when looking back on his birthday bash.
For their 28th anniversary in 2023, Al shared some cute throwback photos with his wife and family over the years, including the same beloved picture of them laughing together on their wedding day.
The rest of the photo carousel features more snaps from their wedding and moments with their blended family.
"28 years ago, @debrobertsabc promised to be there for better, for worse, thick and thin. Good times and Bad. But the greatest gift is the family she has given me. Happy Anniversary, sweetheart," Al captioned the Instagram post.
On Instagram, Deborah also celebrated their anniversary. The “Lessons Learned and Cherished" author shared throwback pics of her and Al over the years, including a cute photo of them smiling next to a newspaper-shaped cake with both of their faces on the front page.
"It’s been 28 years. Beginning with a few jitters, great excitement and hearts brimming with hope , we embarked on this journey. And it has been one great adventure. You are mine….I am yours. And where you are, I am too. Happy anniversary my dearest. Let’s keep making memories," Deborah captioned the sweet pics.
Katie Couric commented, "Cute couple alert!!!😍" and Octavia Spencer said, "Happy anniversary."
