Aerial footage shows wildfires tearing through Texas
STORY: Authorities said they have only managed to contain 10% of the flames of the Chalk Mountain fire.
Aerial footage showed raging fires burning areas of land while fire trucks and air tankers dropped retardant.
On Monday, the Somervell County issued a disaster declaration due to the threat of the fires. There is still no official data on the account of damaged structures.
Through a tweet, neighbouring Hood County authorities said the fire is getting nearer and urged residents to be ready to evacuate if needed.
According to Texas A&M Forest Service, there are at least 12 active wildfires in the state.
