Admirals President Jon Greenberg is honored again by the American Hockey League after a big bounce-back season
Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg was named the American Hockey League’s executive of the year and the teams ticket and promotion staffs also were honored during the league’s awards ceremony Thursday night.
Greenberg led the Admirals to what the organization characterized as one of its most financially successful seasons, even after it had been idle for 18 months when play began last October.
The Admirals won the regular-season title awarded after the 2019-20 season was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then were among the AHL franchises to go dark in 20-21 due to local COVID restrictions.
The Admirals organization was also recognized for top ticket revenue growth among Western Conference teams and for the top individual promotion for it's “Milwaukee Fish Fry” rebranding for one weekend in March.
Greenberg, who has been with the Admirals since Harris Turer purchased the team in 2005, also won the James C. Hendy Award for top executive in ’06-07. The award is named for the longtime AHL historian and title-winning Cleveland Barons general manager who became a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The honors came on the same day the team announced its 2022-23 schedule. The Admirals open on the road Oct. 15 against the defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves and at home a week later against the Manitoba Moose.
