Adele's 2020 musical comeback has been delayed, her manager Jonathan Dickins has confirmed.

The singer's first album since 2015 was heavily rumoured to be released in September, but Dickins has now revealed that there is currently no set date in mind.

Explaining that the album has been held back by the continuing pandemic, he told Music Week: "It isn’t coming in September, it’ll be ready when it’s ready.

"We’re all in the same boat, you’re doing stuff and then all of a sudden, the world stops. It’ll come when it’s ready. I can’t put a date on that yet. We have music, but we’re still working."

Back in April, Adele's fans were left concerned that her new album wouldn't be released this year after she made a less than promising comment about it on Instagram.

During an Instagram Live chat between producers Babyface and Teddy Riley, the connection kept dropping in and out, prompting her to say (via Daily Mail): "Come on, it’s 2020 – we ain’t meant to get what we want!"

This threw some fans into a blind panic, taking it as confirmation that her album would now be postponed until next year.

However, One Republic's Ryan Tedder, who's thought to be working with Adele on the album, did provide a more positive update when he told The Sun in March that she sounds "better than ever".
