Aaron Rodgers and Packers have 'longest Midwest goodbye' as social media reacts to trade to Jets
Aaron Rodgers has finally been traded.
It's been a long time coming since Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers expressed a desire to move on, with Rodgers saying he wants to play for the New York Jets, more than a month ago.
The Packers and Jets have been in a holding pattern on the trade as the two teams worked through compensation.
Here's how social media reacted to the trade.

The Jets are BONAFIDE Super Bowl contenders now, but that doesn’t change the fact that they got ABSOLUTELY FLEECED on this trade. Packers are getting a better fist round pick this year, a 2nd rounder this year, and a more than likely 1st rounder next year for 1-2 years of Rodgers

Jets gave WAY MORE THAN THEY SHOULD HAVE to acquire a QB who'll turn 40 in Dec, who has been awful in 3 straight Lambeau playoff games (including last yr's "playoff" vs Lions) & who has been way more miss than hit in postseason since his 1 & only SBowl 12 seasons ago. FLEECED.

“Do you want our 39 year-old QB? We want to dump him so badly that we don’t care about the massive cap hit. He really wants out. Also, we have no other offers or possible trade partners.”
“Sure, what about a 2nd, a conditional first, and we’ll swap 13 and 15?”
“Um… done!”— Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) April 24, 2023

So let me get this straight: the Packers get
A first-round pick swap in 2023
A high second-round pick in 2023
A likely first-round pick in 2024 (at worst a second)
A $60 million financial obligation taken off their hands
For
A player that was never going to play for them again.— Andrew Brandt (@AndrewBrandt) April 24, 2023
Aaron Rodgers is now officially a New York Jet.
We wish him nothing but success and will be watching all of his games with interest this year.
However we are incredibly excited to begin the Jordan Love Era!
