2024 ATH Garrett Stover commits to Ohio State football
When Big Walnut coach Rob Page watches 2024 athlete Garrett Stover, he sees a someone who eats, sleeps and breathes football.
“This is a guy, he doesn’t have a lot of hobbies,” Page told The Dispatch. “He’s a football guy. He’s an old-school, throwback kid.”
It's something Stover will now try and bring to the next level, announcing Monday his commitment to Ohio State, joining the Buckeyes' 2024 class.
Stover is Ohio State's first defensive commit in the 2024 class, joining offensive lineman Ian Moore and quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Stover picked the Buckeyes over schools like Michigan State and Notre Dame, which was the other finalist for the 2024 Big Walnut recruit.
Stover is Ohio State's first in-state recruit in the 2024 class after securing commitments from linebacker Arvell Reese, cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr., offensive lineman Austin Siereveld, offensive lineman Luke Montgomery, offensive lineman Joshua Padilla, safety Malik Hartford and defensive tackle Will Smith Jr. in the 2023 class.
Stover will join the same program his cousin Cade Stover plays for, who emerged as a premier tight end option in the Buckeyes' offense in 2022.
Standing at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Garrett Stover is the No. 22 athlete in the 2024 class and the No. 6 prospect in the state of Ohio.
While he projects to join Ohio State's linebacker room, Stover has played anywhere from safety to defensive end for Big Walnut, while playing slot receiver on offense.
After receiving an offer from the Buckeyes June 1, Stover visited Ohio State multiple times, including Ohio State's wins against Wisconsin and Notre Dame.
