MENDON — Two people are dead after a crash Friday night in this small Worcester County town.

The Worcester District Attorney's Office confirmed Saturday the two people killed in the crash next to 84 Uxbridge Road (Route 16) were a father and his son.

The victims have not been publicly identified as family notifications are ongoing.

The crash, which involved a car carrier around 10:30 p.m. Friday, sent the vehicle the two were traveling in over a steep embankment and into Nipmuc Pond next to the Alicante Restaurant & Lounge, where both victims worked, WCVB-TV reported.

The DA's office along with Mendon and state police are investigating the crash.
