2 Central Florida restaurants shut down last week

Two Central Florida restaurants received emergency orders to shut down in the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 6, according to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Orange County

Ahmed Indian Restaurant Ucf Orlando at 10042 University Blvd shut down on Nov. 2.

Officials found 33 violations, four of which were a high priority.

Those violations included flying insects, no sneeze-guards for the salad car inappropriate food temperatures, and an improperly stored toxic chemical.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Nov. 3 and allowed it to reopen after finding zero violations.

Seminole County

Rite Season at 1220 S Sanford Ave in Sanford shut down on Nov. 2.

Officials found 13 violations, two of which were a high priority.

Those violations included rodent activity and a missing vacuum breaker hose.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Nov. 3 and allowed it to reopen after finding zero violations.

Complaints and warnings

Volusia had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida with 19.

Orange County had 9, Brevard had 8, Seminole had 7, Lake had 5, and Osceola had 5. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.

In surrounding counties, 12 warnings or complaints were filed in Polk and 6 in Sumter.
