Cereal was something that many of us ate as kids and based on a study from Mintel, it seems that many of us still do. The research found that 89% of people say that they eat it for breakfast and 43% for a snack. And while the options are seemingly endless, if you are going to munch on cereal for nourishment or instead of popcorn while binge-watching your favorite show, it might as well offer you something other than empty calories.

Understandably, reading the words “fiber-rich” may not spark joy or lead to mouth-watering images, but high-fiber cereals have become tastier than they used to be. To be frank, we know that there was a time when they tasted similar to tree bark or plastic straws, but thankfully that has changed, at least in most cases.
Furthermore, as we mature, we know that it is essential to our health to have more servings of green leafy vegetables than it is to have sugary cookies. So having cereal with healthy ingredients should also be on your list of things to do.
And we aren’t going to lecture you on the benefits of a high fiber diet, but it does help regulate your bowels, lower cholesterol, and feed the good bacteria in your stomach, keeping your gut health in check. Here are some of our favorite high-fiber cereal; here’s hoping that they become yours, too.
1. Nature’s Path Organic Flax Organic Plus Raisin Bran
The standard go-to when many of us hear that we need to up or fiber we think to just grab a box of raisin bran. And why not? Have it with 1/2 cup of skim milk, and you will get 511mg of potassium, 3g of iron and 181mg of calcium.

It also includes vitamins A, B6, B2, D, B12, folic acid and 7g of fiber. If you don’t fancy cow’s milk, serve it with oat milk and add extra dried fruit like cherries or craisins.

3. Post Raisin Bran
If you love Sun-Maid raisins, you will also love Post Raisin Bran as it is packed with them. The brand says it contains hundreds of raisins but who’s counting? But we admit every spoonful is chock-full. Plus, you get 26g of whole grain, 9g of fiber, vitamins A, D, B6, and B-12, calcium, iron and magnesium. It has one downfall and it is that it is pretty high in sugar.
4. Barbara’s Shredded Wheat
Barbara’s Shredded Wheat cereal couldn’t be any more straightforward. Its only ingredient is whole grain wheat, and we can’t be mad at that.
